This is one beautiful peony! On Father's Day, I went to visit my dad who loves his gardens and spends a great deal of time tending to them. It was raining and normally that ruins peonies, but this one was still as lovely as can be.
These beautiful iris are from a collectors garden. The contrast of the white petals against the darker petals and leaves is striking!
One of the finest things about summertime is walking along a long stretch of sandy beach barefoot listening to the crash of the waves, feeling the cool salt breezes and the warm sun and picking up sea shells, starfish and sand dollars as treasures to bring home!
When I did this painting, I had no idea what kind of tropical flowers these were. But today, one of my watercolor students told me they are ginger flowers. She is a landscape designer and knows her flowers. So I'll believe her, although I thought ginger flowers were red. 
A beautiful peach colored iris that blooms in a friend's garden. This is especially nice against the complementary blue sky in the background.
Another of my wonderful collectors sent me photos of orchids from her visit to Hawaii. Someday I've got to visit all these places! These are some pretty peachy colored ones. 
I'm late in getting this one listed. You must be thinking this artist is on vacation. That would be nice especially if the vacation were at the scene of this painting! Alas, I'm not there. One of my collectors (my collectors are so good) sent me a photo she took when she visited California and it was perfect for a painting.
Of course these Pee Gee Hydrangeas are not blooming in my garden at this time of year, but I've been looking at the shrubs and thinking how nice it will be when they do. Not to rush the season - these hydrangeas don't bloom until August. June and July will go by fast enough as it is!
These are pretty and delicate sweet smelling roses from a cottage garden in Bermuda.
In this view of my favorite Rhode Island beach, you can see the long stretch of sand that seems to go on forever. Only a few people are out on this day, the water is unusually placid. This makes for a starkly simple scene that is quite pleasing. Just sand, water and sky and a distant horizon.
A lovely deep color, this red peony is blooming in my garden now. I love the richness of the color in this painting.
You have to look closely to see the little bluebird sitting on the fence in this painting. It's ready to fly to the bluebird house where there is a nest full of baby bluebirds. Behind the fence, rhododendron bloom. Later in the summer, there will be daylilies in the foreground.
These are lovely pale purple iris. I saw them blooming by the roadside just up the road from me.
My collectors are the best! One of them sent me some photos of orchids from her trip to Hawaii a few years ago, knowing how much I love painting flowers. These are gorgeous gold and bright pink, and they make a stunning oil painting.
I love this scene of Hanauma Bay on Oahu, Hawaii. The ocean is placid in the bay and a great place for snorkling. I've added a lantana shrub blooming in the foreground.
My peonies have started to bloom and this one is the first with many more shrubs to follow. It's loaded with blooms and brightens up the area where peonies line the driveway.
The little siberian irises that sprung up in my garden are so lovely, I couldn't resist painting one. Every time I pass by them on the way to fill the birdbath, I stop to admire their delicate beauty which I've attempted to convey in this painting. They keep blooming; as soon as one fades there is another to take its place.
You know, my collectors are the best people! One of them sent me photos of flowers she took while on vacation in Hawaii, so I have some lovely tropical flowers to paint. Hawaii is known for its gorgeous flowers. These orchids are gloriously colorful in shades of pink and yellow!
Now that it's beach weather, it's a great time to take a trip to the shore. This scene is from East Beach in Rhode Island, one of my favorite beaches. The dunes are full of beach roses blooming and one can walk for miles along the shore far from the crowds with only the sound of the surf, the seabirds overhead and the fresh salt air breezes.

When a magnolia tree is in full bloom, it is a magnificent sight, but even a single blossom is stunning. I love the thick petals of a magnolia blossom that still convey a sense of delicacy and grace.
The blossoms are gone on my crabapple tree and a couple of wrens have built a nest in the birdhouse. But I just had to paint the beautiful pink blossoms again when I think of how magificent the tree was in bloom.
A small tern swoops near the surf's edge on a beach at sunset in Hawaii. I love the sky in this piece and the pink reflection on the rolling waves from the setting sun.
Amaryllis are so lovely. I saw these beauties in Hamilton, Bermuda blooming in the park.
This is almost a salmon-colored hibiscus. I love the white veins in the petals which give it a variegated appearance.
