Rose-breasted Grosbeak & Dogwood Blossoms - Watercolor Painting
With spring on the way, the Grosbeaks will be returning to this area to nest soon from the West Indies, Mexico and South America. Then we'll be hearing their pretty song. I have to smile at the description of the song in my Peterson's Bird Field Guide: "resembles a Robin's song, but mellower, given with more feeling (as if a Robin has taken voice lessons)."
Well, that's about the best description you can get. I have painted this male Grosbeak in my dogwood tree in bloom. With the contrasting values and colors, I think it makes a beautiful painting! I hope you agree. - This painting has been sold.
