Wedding Flowers - A Custom Oil Painting Part 1

An oil painting of the beautiful flowers at a woman's wedding is a wonderful idea for an anniversary gift - especially if the flowers are the bride's favorites! They will remind her of her happy day for many years to come.

Such a request came in recently. The flowers and outdoor setting in the photo the client sent were so beautiful that I looked forward to painting them. I'll show you how I go about it below.

Shipping a Wet Oil Painting on Canvas - How To Do It!

The next custom painting I am working on may need to be shipped before it is completely dry. OK, so how to do that? It's not difficult, but the key is, I need to know beforehand that the painting will be shipped wet and then take the proper steps before ever putting a brush to canvas.  Many thanks to artists Jack White and Mikki Senkarik, for the idea behind my method.

I'll show you the steps below. This works well for a small painting such as the one in the photo which is 18x14 inches. For a large work, the same idea applies, but heavier materials will be needed and the method modified.

Waterfall Landscape and Portraits Custom Painting

This custom painting was commissioned as a birthday gift for a young woman by her boyfriend. (What a nice idea for a gift! )
According to him, her two favorite things are her family's farm property in Tennessee and her dog Tucker. So the project was to paint her at the property with her beloved fur friend. You can click the image to see it larger.
Below, I will show you how I painted this 14x11 inch watercolor, so read on if you'd like to see:
