An old-timer up the road from me has a garden by the road filled with dahlias and other flowers. I went for a walk with my camera one recent sunny day and got not only some great pictures to use for reference, but an offer for me to drop by next spring so he can give me some dahlias to plant in my own garden. In addition, I got something I absolutely love - stories about the old days and what the neighborhood was like 50 years ago or more. That's golden!
