It hasn't snowed much here yet, only some flurries once in a while. But, winter is coming and I remember this scene outside my window last year when the snow was deep. Cardinals and snow seem to go together, the bright red of the male stands out against all the whiteness. Here a male and female share a tree. They're waiting to feel safe enough to venture to the bird feeder which is busy with chickadees, titmice and nuthatches. Once they decide it's safe, they will fly to one of the feeders and sit there eating, rather than flying back and forth. They like a leisurely meal!
