Catching the Waves - A Beach Scene in watercolor

This is a commission painting that I've just finished. Such a touching scene with Grandpa, don't you think?

I enjoyed doing this because I love painting the ocean in watercolor and it was fun to do the people and their reflections in the water. Commissions are great because they often challenge me to paint things a little differently than usual.

Fall Reflections - Landscape Oil Painting on Canvas

I needed a break between commission paintings and pet portraits, so out came a 16" x 20" canvas and my autumn colors!

There is a hayfield down the road which I am sure was once used for cattle, but is now just for haying.  In the middle of it is a clump of trees surrounding a small pond which is very picturesque when the leaves turn color in the fall.

So, I decided to paint it and put the pond in front of the trees so the reflections of the colors would be visible.

Calico Long-hair Cat - oil portrait

Finished portrait. It was fun to include the designs on the kitty couch.  I hope she looks comfortable lying there! This painting is an 11 x 14 oil on panel.

Calico Cat Pet Portrait

So many orders for commission paintings have come in that I am almost totally booked until Dec. 25, and will need to work hard to keep up with them! So I have had to put my daily paintings aside for now.

Here is a commission I am working on right now. A pet portrait of a sweet little "princess".  She sleeps on a red and gold brocade cushioned couch and eats from a crystal bowl.

Above you can see all the photos of her that I've taped at the top of the easel for reference. To the left is the Pet Portrait questionnaire filled in by the client. This gives me extra details that I can refer to in order to get the personality and exact colors.
I'll post a photo when this painting is finished.
